How is the marcus evans culture unique, when it comes to providing opportunities to women?
The company prides itself on hard work and positive attitude, and I don’t think that there is any question or bias when it comes to gender. As a company, marcus evans is supportive of everyone, and this has always been apparent to be from my first day. Personally, I don’t think that someone’s gender defines their abilities, and this is something that I believe everyone in my team would agree with, as well as the wider company.
How are you personally contributing towards providing equal opportunities to members of your team? What makes the biggest difference?
As a leader, it is important to make sure that your team is provided with the support that they need to succeed and achieve their goals. People need differing levels of support and guidance, which is important to be aware of, to enable equal opportunity. Additionally, I believe that women should support women, and encourage people to be confident in their capabilities. I encourage this in my team, to ensure that everyone feels that they can speak up to the same degree.
What advice would you offer to upcoming women leaders at marcus evans?
The main thing that I would suggest is, don’t be afraid to ask for help or clarification on anything. Some people feel as though it may be ‘weak’ to ask for help, particularly as a woman, but being able to learn from the resources we have here will help you grow in your career. Being comfortable and confident allows women to be great leaders and have a role in ensuring an inclusive workplace.
Which women have inspired you the most professionally and personally? How?
I grew up around a lot of strong women who weren’t afraid of speaking up, and I can say the same about my friends. Surrounding yourself with people like that, and knowing that they’re all incredibly supportive of my career and goals, encourages me to work hard and take every opportunity that comes my way, both personally and professionally.
