How is the Marcus Evans culture unique when it comes to providing opportunities to women?

What makes Marcus Evans distinctive is its merit-based culture and focus on practical development. Progression is based on performance and capability, ensuring fair opportunities for everyone across all roles. Hard work and a positive attitude are recognised, and opportunities are equal, not defined by gender. At Marcus Evans, we have many women in leadership roles across different departments and functions, many with long years of experience. This reflects the inclusive and supportive culture that the company has cultivated.

How are you personally contributing towards providing equal opportunities to members of your team? What makes the biggest difference?

A big part of equal opportunity is recognising that people learn and develop differently. In our team, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to training. We emphasise hands-on experience and invest time in live, real-time situations so team members can learn by doing. This allows us to tailor support to each individual, make expectations clear, and distribute opportunities intentionally, while ensuring everyone has a fair chance to build confidence and competence. At the same time, we all work towards the same goal: delivering high-quality events.

What message would you like to share on the occasion of International Women’s Day? What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day celebrates the remarkable achievements, strength, and resilience of women everywhere. It reminds us that women can excel in their careers while also fulfilling family and personal commitments.

More than a celebration, it’s a commitment to creating workplaces where everyone, regardless of gender, has the support and opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed.

What is “great leadership” for you? What key traits do you value the most?

To me, great leadership starts with the simple principle of treating people the way you would want to be treated. It means showing respect, listening, and being accountable, as these qualities build trust and create a positive environment where people feel supported and empowered.

A great leader also communicates clearly and adapts to individual needs, ensuring everyone has the guidance and opportunities to grow
