About your trainer:  Ronald L. Smith

Ronald L. Smith is a procurement and contracting consultant specializing in negotiations and contract resolution. He’s a veteran of hundreds of successful negotiations as both buyer and seller. In his role as a purchaser, Ron negotiated contracts for aircraft parts & systems, engineering services, IT products & services, and construction. As a seller, he negotiated major defense contracts for satellites & military aircraft, multi-million dollar contracts for IT services & products, and individual contracts for sale of products and services to companies, municipalities, and state governments. More than a hundred of these transactions were face-to-face negotiations, while hundreds more were directed through his leadership of negotiating teams at Northrop Grumman, Hewlett Packard, PC Connection, and Airbus.

His training experience is a combined 30 years as a trainer, instructor and author. As a training consultant he continues to teach on a wide range of contracts and supply chain issues, especially conflict resolution and contract negotiation. He is the author of numerous books and articles, including the Contract Management Body of Knowledge (2004) (currently in 4th Edition).

As a professional leader he has served as National President of NCMA, World Congress Chair, and as a long-time member of the NCMA Board of Advisors and the NCMA Board of Directors. He is the recipient of the Charles A. Dana Award for NCMA service. He has also served on numerous Industry and Government committees including the Acquisition Reform Working Group (ARWG) and the Electronic & Information Technology Accessibility Advisory Committee (EITAAC).
