Ahead of the Distributed Ledger Innovation, Corporate Partnerships & Strategic Integration Conference, we spoke with Edwina Johnson, Program Director at Startupbootcamp FinTech about partnering with FinTech firms and the best resources to use when developing an approach to wide variety of individuals in the digital space.

Edwina, you will be presenting on “Moving FinTech Forward: Which Firms Are the Real Deal and Which Ones Confront the Banks on Choosing the Right Partners” - What are some key takeaways the audience can expect from your session?

The audience can expect to take away insights from our experience at Startupbootcamp in helping established players work with FinTech startups. Other key takeaways would be, the different approaches that are taken by organizations, successful engagements with those organizations, existing challenges yet to be overcome. On the flip side to that last takeaway, how a startup can find the best partner to work with.

What are some key tips you could advise the audience on selecting the right business partner when a bank is partnering with a FinTech firm?

From a FinTech's perspective, finding a partner who has worked with startups previously, or who has expressed an active interest in the area they are working in, are just two great indications that they are ready to get going quickly.

From the perspective of a large organization, conducting through sourcing, and understanding what internal criteria they would need to fulfill to be able to startup working with a startup.

What resources do you find the most helpful when developing your approach to a wide variety of individuals in this digital space?

The best resource is the FinTech ecosystem itself. Then I would say, listening to the startups, innovation heads of banks, venture capitalists, etc. And alongside, researching the new startup trends which are coming through the market as we speak.

What are the key drivers enabling you to attend this meeting? And what is the one thing you would like to get out of this forum?

I am looking forward to hearing about the different approaches and view points in the DLT market!
